Description |
Very light hues of color(s) cover non-printed areas of the page.
This may be more apparent when viewing the edges of a stack of printed pages.
Magenta and cyan
are the most common colors to show this issue.
|
There are three common types of tinted background issues.
- The first occurs on glossy or heavy media, in duplex (2-sided printing) mode, and is seen on the backside (second side) of the page.
Printers in high humidity/high temperature environments are particularly susceptible.
- The second occurs in simplex (single-sided printing) modes, on all media types, and is worse with continuous printing.
It usually occurs on
print cartridges
that have printed more than 12,000 (cyan, magenta, and yellow) or 13,000 (black) pages and are near end-of-life.
- Constant activation of color cartridges while black-and-white pages are being printed wears out color toners before they can be used.
The print cartridge is near the end of its life.
